BPD Hosts Free Shred Event on Saturday, April 20

Nearly 94,000 Floridians reported they were victims of identity theft in 2023, according to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). One of the simplest things you can do to protect against identity theft is to shred pre-approved credit applications, credit card receipts, bills, and other financial information you don't want before discarding them in the trash or recycling bin.

The Bradenton Police Department will host a free shredding event on Saturday, April 20, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Shred Medic will professionally shred your documents at BPD, located at 100 10th St. W., Bradenton.

There isn't a limit on the number of documents you may drop off, and items can be in boxes, bins, or bags. During last year's event, over 2.5 tons of documents were shredded.

Complimentary snacks and drinks are available for those who wait during shredding.

Wagner Realty and the Bradenton Blue Foundation sponsor the annual Shred Event Fundraiser. Wagner Realty will accept donations to the Bradenton Blue Foundation, the charitable arm of the Bradenton Police Department. Donations help provide safety equipment and training for officers and support annual outreach programs.
