43-year-old woman caught in gunfire; Homicide investigation underway

The Bradenton Police Department and Manatee Homicide Task Force are investigating a pair of shootings that resulted in the death of Yolanda Baxcajay-Flores, a 43-year-old mother of four.   

The first shooting (Case #2024-009162) occurred at approximately 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 12, in the 2400 block of 8th Avenue E. The suspect(s) fired at least ten rounds, damaging homes and vehicles.  

The second shooting (Case #2024-009165) occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of 15th Avenue E. The suspect(s) fired more than 30 rounds, and the victim, who was arriving home from grocery shopping, was struck while in her car. Responding officers provided emergency aid until EMS arrived. She was transported to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries overnight.  

Investigators determined that the woman was not the intended victim. 

Detectives worked through the night to gather information about the suspect(s) and vehicle(s) involved. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det.
