Construction to begin on new firing and driving range

May 5, 2023

A groundbreaking was held Thursday, May 4, 2023, for a new firing and driving range to be used by the Bradenton Police Department and the Manatee Technical College Law Enforcement Academy.

The project, a partnership between the City of Bradenton Government and the School District of Manatee County, will be constructed on 70 acres of property in eastern Manatee County that are already used by BPD as a firing range and for SWAT training.

When complete, the facilities will include a 25-yard pistol firing range, a 100-yard rifle range, a simulated shoot house, a 300x600-foot driving pad, and a new building that will house a classroom, offices, and gun room. The new facilities will allow us to expand on our existing training programs and will better prepare law enforcement academy students for their future careers.
