High visibility enforcement locations announced

September 3, 2021

Recently, the Bradenton Police Department applied for and received funding for the High Visibility Enforcement program. We will be continuing our partnership with the Florida Department of Transportation and the University of North Florida, working to increase awareness of pedestrian and bicycle safety through education and enforcement.

The allocation of these funds will allow us to post overtime officers at several key corridors within our city which are known, high-volume collision locations. Our officer’s observance and enforcement of traffic laws in these areas will significantly reduce the number of pedestrians, bicycle, and vehicle collisions, increasing public safety and awareness of and adherence to traffic laws.

The locations that have been selected for enforcement are: 8th Ave W between 12th St W and 14th St W, 14th St W between 9th Ave and 21st Ave W, 1st St W, between 9th Ave and 17th Ave W, and Manatee Ave W between 49th St and 59th St W. These locations were chosen for their volume of pedestrian traffic and number of accidents involving both vehicles and pedestrians or bicyclists.

By working with the community through education we hope to see a continued decrease in crashes, injuries, and fatalities.

If you would like to receive further information about this program, please feel free to contact Sergeant Aaron Pilant at 941-932-9300 or at aaron.pilant@bradentonpd.com.
