More than $15K in forfeiture funds awarded to local organizations

Today, at the Bradenton City Council Meeting, Chief Melanie Bevan awarded 11 organizations a total of $15,300 in funding from the Florida Contraband Forfeiture Fund Award Program.
This grant program supports projects that improve neighborhood safety, promote crime prevention, provide drug prevention, education or treatment services, or school resource programs. Neighborhood groups, associations, or organizations developing or offering specific projects to address these areas of concern can apply for funding. There are no matching fund requirements and no restrictions on funds requested or the scope of the project requesting support. Since 2018, the Bradenton Police Department has provided more than $102,000 to community organizations within the City of Bradenton.
