BPD receives re-accreditation through the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA)

October 23, 2024

Every three years, the Bradenton Police Department undergoes a stringent voluntary process to maintain our coveted accreditation status through the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA). Chief Melanie Bevan is pleased to announce that on October 3, 2024, the commission voted unanimously to grant re-accredited status.

Being a CFA-accredited agency means we meet or exceed the highest standards in law enforcement, allowing more effective and efficient delivery of law enforcement services to the community.

July 30 - August 1, 2024, BPD completed a rigorous inspection during which assessors reviewed the department's policies, procedures, management, operations, and support services to determine compliance with 235 standards, many of which are critical to life, health, safety, and best practices.

BPD will hold the CFA Accreditation status for another three years before the next assessment. Accreditation is a voluntary process to gain or maintain accreditation, a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence.

Chief Melanie Bevan, Legal Advisor Paul Driscoll, Quality Assurance Manager Valorie Knight, and Ret. Captain William Knight accepted the certificate of re-accreditation on behalf of the department.
