City of Bradenton school speed zone camera program update

October 21, 2024

Speed enforcement camera installation is complete, or underway, in school zones in the City of Bradenton, mirroring the speed enforcement program throughout Manatee County.

The cameras will monitor school zones during the school day, starting 30 minutes before and ending 30 minutes after school. The cameras will not be monitored outside of school hours, on holidays when there is no school, or on weekends.

When active, the cameras capture images of vehicles that exceed the posted school zone speed limit by 10 miles per hour. After being reviewed by the Bradenton Police Department, the registered owner of the speeding vehicle will receive a $100 violation. Failure to pay the violation or request a hearing within 30 days will result in a Uniform Traffic Citation (ticket).

The cameras will issue warnings only for the first 30 days following activation. The Bradenton Police Department will notify the public when each school zone's cameras begin issuing warnings on our website and our social media accounts (@BradentonPD on Facebook, Instagram, and X/Twitter).

Camera installation is occurring in phases at the following schools:

  • Bradenton Christian School – Installation Complete. Warning Period: Monday, October 21 – Wednesday, November 20, 2024
