Fatal traffic crash, Manatee Ave. W.

The Bradenton Police Department continues to investigate a fatal traffic crash that occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Manatee Avenue W. near 47th Street W. 

According to Bradenton Police Traffic Homicide Investigators, a motorcycle was traveling westbound on Manatee Ave. W., approaching the 4700 block. The motorcycle was struck by a vehicle that turned onto westbound Manatee Ave. from 47th St. W. and was immediately attempting to make a U-turn to eastbound Manatee Ave. The operator of the motorcycle was separated from the motorcycle by the collision, and forced into oncoming lanes of eastbound traffic. The motorcycle operator was subsequently struck by an eastbound-traveling vehicle. The motorcycle operator died at the scene. The drivers of both vehicles remained on scene. 

All lanes of Manatee Avenue were closed between 43rd St. W. and 51st St. W. until approximately 2:10 p.m.  

This is an ongoing investigation, however at this time nothing indicates criminal charges will be pursued. The name of the motorcycle operator is being withheld, pending family notification.
