Fatal traffic crash, Southern Pkwy. and 33rd Ave. Dr. W.

At approximately 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2023, Bradenton Police officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Southern Pkwy. and 33rd Ave. Dr. W.

Traffic Homicide Investigators determined the at-fault driver, an elderly man, made an improper left turn from Southern Pkwy onto 33rd Ave. Dr. W. into the path of an oncoming car and was struck. The at-fault driver was not wearing a seatbelt and despite life-saving measures passed away at the hospital.

At the time of the crash, the at-fault vehicle was traveling at approximately 20 mph, and the driver of the other vehicle was traveling at approximately 30 mph.

At least one parked vehicle sustained damage as a result of the collision.
