Guilty verdict in 2022 murder of Sherline White

February 13, 2025

Case #: 2022-001654

A Manatee County jury found Albert Wilcox guilty of second-degree murder and sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 2022 homicide of Sherline White.

February 26, 2022, BPD dispatchers received a call from a woman who said someone was pointing a gun at her. The call then disconnected. Officers responded to the 200 block of 11th Ave E and found Ms. White deceased behind the wheel of her car.

Witnesses told investigators Wilcox was acting aggressively, firing a gun in the air, and arguing with White, who was his girlfriend's mother. Ms. White was in her car, trying to leave, when Wilcox shot her several times. BPD quickly issued a BOLO for Wilcox, and he was located overnight in Glades County, FL.

Wilcox confessed to the murder.

Sergeant Andres Perez was the lead detective on the case, assisted by the Manatee Homicide Investigation Unit.
